Summer Pregnancy Survival Tips | Kieonie Gift Company | Sebastian, Florida
If you’ve ever been pregnant in the summertime, depending on how many months along you are, it can be a downright MISERABLE time, especially if you live in an area where it’s hot and humid (ahem, Florida). Your body is changing, your hormones are raging, and you can’t even enjoy a cocktail while you cool off in the pool, damnit!
So we’ve compiled a list of our top 3 tips for making it through summer with that little bun (or 2) in the oven.
TIP 1- Make healthy choices
Something I needed to do a lot during the first few months of my pregnancy was eat. If there wasn’t any food in my stomach, I felt nauseated, but I didn’t want to gain a ton of weight either. The last thing anyone wants is for a pregnant woman to get overheated AND hangry!!
Some easy summer snack ideas are:
Celery
Watermelon
TIP 2 - Be sure to get enough sleep
When it’s 12 am and that nesting itch sets in, remind yourself that sleep is imperative for your body to keep growin’ that baby and for your immune system.
- If you’re uncomfortable, try using a body pillow specifically shaped for your pregnant body.
- If you can’t shut off your mind, play relaxing music, or diffuse aromatherapy essential oils.
Finally, if all else fails and you’re up until the wee hours of the morning, at least try to snag a nap. Rest in a dark room or wear a sleep mask if nothing else.
TIP 3 - Pamper yourself
Girl, once that baby comes (especially if this isn’t your first), finding uninterrupted “me time” is going to become very difficult. Take time each night to do something for yourself, instead of binge watching another season of Gossip Girl!
- Finish those books you’ve been
- Take a warm (not too hot) bath with your favorite bath bomb
- Light some candles and listen to your favorite music
- Meditate or Journal
- Do a face mask
- Have your significant other give you a jelly pedicure
And last but not least, don’t forget to keep drinking that H2O! Icy water will keep you cool and fill up your belly! Kill those two birds with one stone, sista!
